Since the smashing success of Iron Meat’s release in September, Retroware hasn’t slowed down a bit. They’ve been tirelessly working to plot the next big adventures for their retro-inspired modern hit, and the fruits of their labor are now here!
Their first major update has just touched down on Xbox, offering up a delectable array of new content that’s sure to keep players on their toes.
One of the standout additions is the much-anticipated Mirror Mode. This nifty feature allows you to replay every level—but with a twist! Everything is flipped horizontally, making for fresh encounters with every enemy and boss. It’s not just a simple flip; tackling each level in reverse breathes new life into the game, and you can unlock it after your first complete playthrough, regardless of difficulty.
Another exciting feature is the introduction of the Supercharge upgrade, which brings a fiery new twist to your arsenal. Once you’ve got this upgrade, your project’s color will go from the usual blue or green to an intense red. So, if you’ve maxed out a couple of guns and they’re firing green shots, grab a third one, and voila! You’ve got an automatic Supercharge with that powerful red glow.
And here’s a change all players will love: extra lives. With this update, any extra lives you’ve earned during a level will now carry over into the next. So, if you finish a stage with more lives than you started with, those precious 1UPs are safe!
The visual department hasn’t been left out either. We’ve gone back and added more pizazz to some level backgrounds, enhancing the storyline’s subtle undertones. You might notice some new touches, like helicopters swooping down to engage Meat monsters in the Forest, or those intense explosive impacts on the Train level.
On top of these exciting upgrades, we’ve also done some fine-tuning to the gameplay and balance. The firepower of the “E”, “U”, and “M” guns has been beefed up, and we’ve added more of that juicy Meat in select areas of the Moon Base. And for those epic boss battles, some patterns of the MI-24 helicopter fight now have clearer motions.
All these improvements give a fresh flavor to the game, making sure that players experience a fairer adventure. For instance, those pesky Meat worms are now vulnerable the instant they show up, and the Meat Mouth Doors on Train can be destroyed, making gameplay a tad friendlier.
This update is just a glimpse of what we’ve got planned for Iron Meat’s future. So, stay tuned for more exciting enhancements coming your way. For those yet to dive in, Iron Meat invites you to join in on the action today.
