Welcome to another edition of XR News Round-Up, your quick stop for catching up on the top stories we might have initially missed.
As November winds down, the stream of major releases continues to captivate players. Gamers have been treated to the likes of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, The Thrill Of The Fight 2 in early access, By Grit Alone, and Wall Town Wonders—something for every taste. Although the hardware side has been relatively calm, there are whispers about Valve Deckard’s controllers making the rounds. Meanwhile, Black Friday deals have started popping up for the Pico 4 Ultra and PlayStation VR2.
Our weekly newsletter and latest articles cover the rest, but here are some stories we’re spotlighting this week.
First off, Ghosts of Tabor has hit a bump on the road to its PlayStation VR2 release. Originally slated for a 2024 debut, fans will now have to wait until 2025. Combat Waffle Studios explains the delay is due to the unexpected challenges of porting the game to PS VR2 and is focusing more resources on the project to ensure a quality launch.
Next up, a heads-up for Arizona Sunshine fans. When Vertigo Games announced the Arizona Sunshine Remake, they offered a sweet deal for owners of the 2016 original—a “Remake Upgrade” for just $9.99. But this offer wraps up soon, ending on November 30 for Quest users, so make sure to snag it while you can.
On the horizon for Quest is Chronostrike, a new co-op shooter from Greensky Games, the same creators of Swarm 2. Drawing inspiration from Superhot and Inception, this game keeps time standing still until you move. While aiming for a full release on February 13, 2025, they’re already looking for playtesters for its closed alpha on both Quest 2 and Quest 3.
And in VR sports news, CleanSheet Soccer has introduced the London Cages DLC for Quest and PS VR2, broadening its gameplay for aspiring goalkeepers. Tackle aggressive English strikers in intense, small-sided matches, and unlock exclusive gear like a special glove, ball, and stadium.
Looking ahead, Electrician Simulator VR is set to launch in Q1 2025 on Quest, PS VR2, and Steam. Building on the flatscreen edition from 2022, this new VR chapter promises redesigned tasks tailored specifically for virtual reality, while still following the narrative and settings of the original.
