I can hardly contain my excitement for King of Meat, easily topping my list of anticipated games at the moment. This co-op dungeon crawler is all about swapping sheer skill for some well-orchestrated chaos, making it an absolute blast to play with friends or even solo. Imagine a blend of Dark Souls’ intense combat, the vibrant antics of Fall Guys, and just enough friendly fire to keep even the most experienced Helldivers 2 gamers laughing out loud. If this piques your interest, you’re in luck—Glowmade is gearing up for an alpha test, and they’re inviting you to sign up for a chance to dive in right now.
Reflecting on my initial peek at King of Meat earlier this year, I walked away more impressed than I could have expected. Going in, the only thing I knew was that it marked Amazon’s latest foray into the gaming world. What I discovered was a co-op experience I’m itching to play much more of.
In this game, you and up to three companions are thrust into the realm of Loregok, competing in the planet’s most epic game show. The objective? Navigate through rooms crowded with foes, traps, and riddles while thrilling the audience to rack up a winning score. Its premise might remind you of a lighter version of Dark Souls, which is precisely why I found such joy in playing King of Meat. Rather than relying on prowess, it’s all about diving headfirst into the chaos.
But there’s more to King of Meat than just crawling through dungeons. The final version of the game promises a treasure trove of user-generated content. You’re free to craft and share your own dungeon adventures, filled with as many devious rooms as you see fit. If your creation garners enough fanfare—or catches the eye of Glowmade’s team—it could become part of the game’s regular rotation, inviting everyone to experience your one-of-a-kind chaos.
Now, keep in mind that signing up doesn’t guarantee a spot in King of Meat’s alpha test. And if you’re lucky enough to get in, your progress won’t carry over to the full game. Primarily, you’ll be aiding Glowmade by offering feedback and squashing bugs in this early game build.
Glowmade has slated the King of Meat alpha test to run from Wednesday, December 4, to Saturday, December 14. Players on Steam and Xbox in North America and Europe can take part, but do note you’ll be under a binding NDA if selected. Ready to sign up? You can do so right here.
