The Pico 4 Ultra is making waves with a special Black Friday offer from ByteDance, which includes the innovative Pico Motion Trackers, three popular games, and a month-long subscription to VRChat Plus.
In this enticing bundle, you’ll find Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, Pistol Whip, and Synth Riders, a trio of games that promise countless hours of immersive gameplay. But act quickly—this deal is only on the table until December 2nd.
The Pico Motion Trackers, which usually retail for around €90 or £80, are an exciting addition to your virtual reality setup. They strap onto your ankles to enable leg tracking in compatible games, adding a whole new level of immersion to titles like Blade & Sorcery: Nomad and VRChat. Meta has stated that, unless these trackers become a runaway hit, they don’t plan on adopting a similar feature.
This offer is available wherever the Pico 4 Ultra is sold, though unfortunately, that still excludes North America for the time being.
We recently had the chance to go hands-on with the Pico 4 Ultra and its Motion Trackers, and here’s how we think it stacks up against the Meta Quest 3.
For those who can get their hands on it, the Pico 4 Ultra is marketed by ByteDance as a premium alternative to the Meta Quest 3. It boasts 4GB more RAM, superior resolution pass-through, and offers faster charging alongside a longer-lasting battery.
During our hands-on experience, we discovered that the Pico 4 Ultra provides a comfortable fit and a pass-through experience that outshines the Quest 3 in some areas, though it falls short in others. The lenses are certainly an improvement over the Quest 3S, but not quite up to par with the Quest 3.
When it comes to content, ByteDance appears to be shifting its focus away from VR gaming compared to its earlier approach with the Pico 4. They’ve abandoned a Beat Saber rival, transferred the previously exclusive Just Dance VR to Meta, and haven’t announced any major exclusives. While many Quest games are available on the Pico Store, notable absences don’t go unnoticed. ByteDance seems to be pivoting towards transforming Pico OS into a competitive spatial computing platform and is reportedly working on a competitor to Apple’s Vision Pro.
Regardless, this Black Friday deal offers solid value for anyone already eyeing the Pico 4 Ultra. The unique leg-tracking feature provided by the Pico Motion Trackers is something you simply won’t find on Meta’s standalone devices.
