Season two of the Fallout TV show has been making quite the impression, despite taking a temporary break from filming due to the wildfires in Los Angeles. Excitement is buzzing with news of several new cast members joining the ranks. Most notably, Kumail Nanjiani appears to be the latest addition alongside characters like Lucy and The Ghoul.
That’s right—following earlier reports about the Home Alone star portraying a quirky genius, it seems there’s some heavyweight talent joining the Brotherhood of Steel.
In Jeff Sneider’s recent edition of The InSneider newsletter, it’s mentioned that Nanjiani is anticipated to take on the role of “a high-ranking official within the Brotherhood of Steel” for Fallout’s second season. Nanjiani is no stranger to the spotlight, having previously showcased his skills in Marvel’s Eternals as Kingo and in the Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi as Haja Estree.
With such a strong acting background, Nanjiani’s addition promises not only pedigree but also some comedic flair, drawing from his experiences in shows like Silicon Valley and the witty web series Gay of Thrones.
Should he embody a top-tier Brotherhood character, there’s a good chance he’ll be pivotal in the unfolding story arcs for Aaron Moten’s Maximus. Maximus is the power-armored protagonist introduced in the first season, alongside Ella Purnell’s spirited vault dweller and Walton Goggins’ rather charming Ghoul.
Nanjiani’s character might end up being Maximus’ new superior—a seasoned Paladin or Elder attempting to keep his troops disciplined and focused on dealing with threats or, perhaps reminiscent of the Mojave Brotherhood in New Vegas, indulging in their own peculiar traditions while navigating the challenges of their environment.
Could we see Kumail Nanjiani embracing the quirks of his character in Fallout season two? Will there be scenes involving unpredictable plasma rifle mishaps or frantic attempts to fix a troublesome computer virus? Only time will tell.
