Originally slated to hit the market on January 21st, COLD VR faced a last-minute delay by its creators, ALLWARE, along with publisher Perp Games. They decided the game needed some additional refinement before its release. Excitingly, the team has now confirmed a new and final launch date: February 11th.
Marketed as the spiritual successor to the wildly popular Superhot VR, COLD VR aims to deliver its own version of time-bending action, but with a unique twist.
Just like in Superhot, the key feature in Cold VR is how players’ movements impact the passage of time. For instance, whenever you move, time slows down significantly. This mechanic forces players to make rapid decisions and plan their next actions quickly, as lingering too long will cause enemies to speed up.
Initially, COLD VR will be available for Quest and PC VR headsets. You can find it on the Horizon Store for Quest 2/3/Pro and on Steam for PC VR users, all priced at $20. The developers have also hinted that the game will make its way to PSVR 2 soon. This seems credible, especially since you can already add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
