Destiny 2’s latest episode, Heresy, is already sparking excitement among players, particularly with new reports of unreleased weapons dropping in various in-game activities. Episode Heresy seems to be off to a stronger start compared to its predecessors, Echoes and Revenant, partly thanks to fresh content and significant updates to activities like Trials of Osiris.
However, like the episodes before it, Heresy hasn’t been without its challenges. Numerous glitches have already been reported by the community, including malfunctions in legacy activities like Onslaught: Salvation, broken animations, and invisible weapons. While these issues have frustrated players, the newest glitch is, unexpectedly, more beneficial than previous ones.
The Destiny 2 subReddit has been buzzing with posts about these unannounced weapons popping up in players’ inventories. Screenshots shared by players like Hedgyyyyyy highlight weapons that are believed to be part of Episode Heresy’s Act 2 lineup. So far, players have encountered a Void fusion rifle named Afterlight, a kinetic grenade launcher called Boondoggle Mk. 55, and the Void energy bow, Anamnesis.
Interestingly, although these weapons appear as ‘???’ in the Destiny Item Manager, they function perfectly with their unique perks. It seems the glitch originates from a core feature of Episode Heresy known as the Tomb of Want. Players report that filling the first box of the Tomb of Want with Episodic Weapons — while leaving the second box empty — can trigger these drops. Some use Essence of Desire with reported success too, though outcomes appear to vary.
As of now, it’s unclear how Bungie plans to deal with these early weapon drops, or if they’ll simply let them be. The developers are already busy addressing a range of issues, from fixing gameplay bugs, to tackling imbalances like the recently overpowered Radiant Dance Machines exotic armor, which ended up much stronger than intended.
For those diving into Destiny 2, there’s always more to explore. This expansive game offers players an immersive experience as Guardians defending the Last City of humanity. With robust first-person shooter mechanics, a variety of PvP modes, and countless gear to collect, players are invited to create their own legacy among the stars. Whether playing solo or with friends, Destiny 2 promises challenging co-op missions and a cinematic story that’s as engaging as it is vast.
