Nintendo has confirmed that exclusive games will play a pivotal role when it rolls out the Nintendo Switch 2.
This confirmation came during a response to a shareholder’s inquiry. The question was about whether Nintendo would continue to release new games for the current Switch even after its successor becomes available in stores.
President Shuntaro Furukawa addressed this in his reply, stating, “We’ve announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond as titles for the Nintendo Switch, set for a 2025 release. With so many people actively using the Switch, our goal is to keep developing engaging software and launch new titles.”
He added, “Conversely, exclusive games are essential with the introduction of new hardware. Bearing this in mind, we’ll be exploring various strategies to make both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 appealing to as many consumers as possible.”
For those eager for more details about the upcoming console, be sure to catch the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. It’s scheduled to air at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST on Wednesday, April 2.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for a global release in 2025, the exact launch date has not yet been announced.
