Split Fiction, a game that made quite a splash upon its release, is now potentially heading to the big screen. Variety has revealed that Story Kitchen is spearheading the project, assembling the creative team including the cast, writers, and director. This isn’t their first foray into game adaptations; they’ve previously taken on projects like Hazelight’s It Takes Two, currently in development at Amazon, along with adaptations for games like ToeJam & Earl, Slime Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
With the buzz around Split Fiction, it’s no surprise that numerous top-tier Hollywood studios are expressing keen interest.
Released in March, Split Fiction made waves by selling an impressive one million copies within just two days, and its popularity surged with sales doubling in the first week. The team at Hazelight expressed their excitement on Bluesky, exclaiming, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing,” and went on to thank both new and loyal fans for their enthusiasm.
In the meantime, the film version of It Takes Two has already gained traction with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson involved, and the script is being penned by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, known for their work on Sonic the Hedgehog. All eyes are now on how Split Fiction will translate from consoles to cinemas.
