This week in gaming, we’re seeing a mix of the terrifying and the endearing. On paper, some games might seem a bit heavy, but what you actually do in them isn’t necessarily a downer. A couple of games coming out this week fit that bill. However, that can’t be said for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, a game that embraces its darker themes wholeheartedly. It does have its lighter moments, so it’s not all gloom and doom — just don’t expect countless hours of Ellie strumming away on her guitar.
Interestingly, Koira is dropping right before Thursday’s lineup. It’s a game about wandering through a forest with a lost puppy, and I have to admit, thinking about where that story might lead brings a tear to my eye. And then there’s Naughty Dog’s intense, post-apocalyptic shooter where distressing scenes pop up more than you’d probably like. Thursday also sees the release of Sand, which offers a fresh spin on the extraction shooter genre with the inclusion of spider tanks. Plus, we have Caligo and Sephiria, games that appear more serene than they truly are. One of these even lets you step into the paws of a bunny warrior!
Here’s a look at the game releases we’re most excited about for the week of March 31.
