Nintendo has not officially updated the pre-order date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in North America, despite some recent reports from IGN. According to these reports, the FAQ on Nintendo’s pre-order page states that initial invites for pre-orders will be sent out on May 8th. It’s important to note, however, that this date has been listed on the FAQ ever since the page went live on April 2nd, which was two days before the delay announcement. We verified this detail through a Wayback Machine snapshot from the page’s initial launch.
Originally, the delay in opening pre-orders for the Switch 2 was tied to tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump, which were set to significantly affect shipments of the consoles to the U.S. Although many of these tariffs have been substantially reduced following a 90-day suspension, Nintendo has yet to provide any new plans for pre-orders in North America.
