Fast Travel Games, well-known for its expertise in VR, has unveiled exciting news today: their new shooter, Action Hero, inspired by the gameplay mechanics of Superhot, will be making its debut on the Quest platform next month.
Action Hero cleverly incorporates the unique time-stopping movement mechanic made famous by Superhot and Superhot VR. In this game, time only progresses when you move, allowing for tactical planning and strategic combat sequences reminiscent of a John Wick-style shootout.
Mark your calendars for December 12th, as Action Hero is scheduled to launch on Quest 2 and later models. The game thrusts players into the shoes of the main character across five different ‘films’, each exploring multiple cinematic genres.
According to the developers, each movie features four acts, and every act consists of five scenes. The gameplay revolves around defeating adversaries and navigating obstacles in cool, slow-motion sequences. The twist? Time speeds up as soon as you move faster. Players will need to master quick reflexes and sharp planning, as taking a hit sends you back to the start of the current act.
So far, Fast Travel Games has shared a glimpse of some film genres you’ll encounter, including a thrilling heist, an adventurous Indiana Jones-esque tale, a futuristic cyborg saga, and a thrilling ninja film—the latter teased in their latest trailer.
Beyond the slow-motion shootouts, Action Hero promises intense boss battles and a variety of weapons tailored to each movie theme. Additionally, they’ve added what they call ‘Director’s Cuts’—five special levels that challenge you with new, more demanding and quirky scenarios.
This immersive experience will be available exclusively on Quest 2 and later platforms starting December 12th, with a price tag of $20. If you’re eager to get your hands on it, you can add it to your wishlist on the Horizon Store now.
