Schell Games, alongside Innersloth, has exciting news for fans of Among Us: they’re introducing support for standard monitors in the VR version, which will now be renamed Among Us 3D. This means that players on both VR and PC platforms can look forward to experiencing the game together through crossplay.
In this new iteration, Among Us 3D will offer PC gamers a fresh, first-person perspective, something they’ve never encountered before in this universe. Schell Games has ensured that players across various supported platforms—including Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets—can join in the fun seamlessly.
However, it’s important to note that this updated version won’t be compatible with the classic 2D version of Among Us from 2018. This approach keeps Among Us 3D apart from its predecessor, emphasizing its unique VR and cross-platform experience since it first launched in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, the project director at Schell Games, shared his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled about expanding the first-person gameplay to a broader audience with Among Us 3D. By bridging PC and VR users, we’re making it easier for everyone to enjoy the excitement of deceiving their friends. Now, your entire crew can get in on the action!”
Over the next few months, players will see this rebranding reflected in store listings, websites, and in-game elements as updates roll out. Another exciting addition is the introduction of a new in-game currency dubbed ‘Stardust.’ This currency will allow players to snag cosmetic items, contributing to the game’s growth and player customization.
Although there isn’t a fixed release date yet, you might not have long to wait. Among Us 3D will make a feature appearance in Steam Next Fest, giving eager gamers a chance to dive into an exclusive early demo before the official launch.
