GOG, the well-known digital platform for classic and DRM-free PC games, is rolling out an exciting new feature for its community. Dubbed the GOG Dreamlist, this tool allows users to advocate for and vote on the games they are eager to see added to the platform. It’s a natural progression from GOG’s previous community voting activities, now more structured, allowing gamers to make recommendations and share their stories about beloved games.
According to the FAQ, GOG plans to leverage the data from the most-voted games to engage with IP owners, aiming to bring these titles to the service. While they can’t promise updates on every game’s availability status, they’re developing a feature that will let you see which games you’ve supported that have made it to the platform.
Every game on the Dreamlist will have its own dedicated page where you can cast your vote and even share personal anecdotes about your experiences with the game. These stories are intended to become part of the game’s legacy on the site once it’s released. GOG reassures users in their FAQ: “We’re working on migrating these stories to GOG.COM game cards post-release; we won’t allow them to fade away.”
In a related effort, GOG has launched its GOG Preservation Program. This initiative is dedicated to ensuring that older games remain compatible with modern systems. Currently, 102 games fall under this program, including classics like Fallout: New Vegas, Diablo, and Resident Evil 2. Even games that have been delisted, such as Warcraft and Warcraft 2, will remain available for download indefinitely through this program. GOG’s objective is to eventually include all games in this preservation initiative.
Alongside the introduction of the GOG Dreamlist, they’re also announcing the availability of Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, both of which are part of the Preservation Program.
