While there hasn’t been an official announcement, it’s pretty much a given that Black Myth: Wukong is gearing up for some DLC action. The exact date when it will drop remains shrouded in mystery, but a recent hint from the game’s director, Feng Ji, suggests that we might not have to wait much longer.
During the Golden Joysticks Awards, where Black Myth: Wukong snagged the Game of the Year title, the buzz about potential DLC picked up steam. As reported by Insider Gaming, Ji cryptically hinted during his acceptance speech that “there might just be some surprises waiting for you later this year.” This certainly implies that we could be diving into new content for one of 2024’s standout games by year’s end.
Now, it’s entirely possible that Ji’s comment was about the game’s upcoming launch on Xbox. Yet, before dropping that tantalizing teaser, he mentioned, “you [players] might have already completed our game.” This strongly suggests that the “surprise” is aimed at those who have already tackled Game Science’s highly-acclaimed title and are hungry for more.
Considering that The Game Awards are just around the corner, Ji might be hinting at a big reveal during the event. If so, it would be the perfect stage to unveil some exciting news about Black Myth: Wukong DLC, given its nominations across multiple categories, including Game of the Year.
Black Myth: Wukong has arguably been this year’s runaway gaming success. Since launching in August, it’s sold over 20 million copies on PS5 and PC. Though its ranking has dipped a bit, it remains one of the most downloaded games on the PS5. Sony even credits this action RPG with playing a significant role in boosting third-party software sales this year.
And here’s a bonus for PS Plus Premium subscribers: you can dive into Black Myth: Wukong with a two-hour trial. It’s more than enough time to get a feel for whether Game Science’s RPG is right up your alley.
