Stalker 2 has hit a few bumps on the road with some noticeable bugs, but rest assured, GSC Game World is on it with a patch promised to resolve some of these hitches soon.
When Stalker 2 dropped earlier this week, it wasn’t the smoothest of sailing. Nonetheless, our very own Connor found enough charm in the game to overlook the flaws in his review. While the reaction from other corners has been a bit mixed, it’s undeniably been holding its ground on Steam. The modding community has already jumped in to tackle that pesky stutter issue, but it’s comforting to know that there’s an official fix on the horizon. Over on the game’s Steam page, GSC Game World has revealed that the first post-launch patch is set to roll out within the week.
In a statement on their platform, the developers commented, “It’s surreal to think the game has only been out for a few days. We’ve been meticulously following your feedback. To over a million stalkers in the Zone, your engagement means everything to us. While you’ve got tasks to handle in the Zone, we’ve got ours too.” The details about every bug aren’t exhaustive, but they give a fair idea of what improvements are coming.
Expect resolution on some crashing problems like memory allocation failures. Main quest progressions will see improvements to eliminate bugs holding them up, such as NPCs getting stuck or incorrect quest markers. Also on the list are adjustments to gameplay balance—including NPC behavior tweaks and weapon pricing updates—plus some cutscene and visual fixes. There are additional points you can check out directly if curious.
Crucially, they’ve mentioned a couple of issues planned for future patches. One relates to dead zones on analogue sticks that some players have experienced, and the other concerns the game’s A-Life system, a notable pain point for many. As for when these updates will drop, we’ll have to exercise a bit more patience.
