HOOP-O Studios, a promising newcomer to the indie gaming scene, is set to make waves with its latest venture into mixed reality gaming. The studio has announced that “Alex and the Jets,” a unique remote-controlled dogfighting experience, is gearing up for takeoff on the Quest 3 platform next month.
The game is an arcade-style flying adventure that puts players in the cockpit with Alex the Squirrel, who pilots a charming little fixed-wing propeller plane. As you zip around, you’ll have to fend off aerial adversaries from the mischievous gang known as ‘The Jets.’ These foes make their entrance through portals that conveniently appear on your very own walls, challenging you to shoot them down as you expertly maneuver through donut-shaped goals. These goals are more than just obstacles, though—they’re packed with weapon power-ups and health boosts to keep you in top form.
Beyond the fast-paced action, the game offers a more laid-back free roam mode. Here, you can simply enjoy the thrill of flight, zipping around your room without a care in the world. Compete with friends on local leaderboards to showcase your soaring skills, and visit the in-game store to unlock snazzy new outfits for Alex, letting you personalize the adventure to your taste.
One intriguing aspect that HOOP-O has emphasized is the authenticity of their gameplay footage. All footage seen in the game’s trailer was captured directly through the headset’s camera, which is a reassuring nod to the game’s quality and immersion.
While we’re still waiting for a precise release date, HOOP-O has its sights set on an April launch via the Horizon Store. Both Quest 3 and Quest 3S users can look forward to diving into the whimsical world of “Alex and the Jets” very soon.
