Greetings Xbox enthusiasts! It’s with great excitement that we bring you some thrilling news: our game, Overthrown, is set to make its debut on Xbox Game Preview for the Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 5, and it’s included in the Game Pass lineup. For those just discovering Overthrown, you’re in for a ride—it’s a city-building game that’s far from ordinary. It’s all about embracing chaos while letting you embody an anime hero with formidable powers, playing solo or alongside up to five friends. You’ll still be tasked with constructing a city, defending it against mutants and bandits, and managing its resources. Today, I want to share some tips to help you maximize the fun in co-op mode.
A little backstory to set the scene: equipped with an ancient soul-stealing crown infused with magic, your powers let you levitate just about anything before you. Huge trees? No problem. Monster nests? Piece of cake. Even picking up an entire sawmill to sweep through the forest and gather trees with ease? Absolutely! Your power knows no limits. You’ll also have supersonic speed, an epic throw worthy of legends, and a spin attack so fast it feels like you’re a helicopter taking flight. Now, picture wielding all this power with five friends. Imagine the fun and chaos you can create together!
To kickstart your journey, here are some handy tips to get the best out of your co-op play.
One Crown to Rule Them All
When you’re in co-op with friends, you’ll find the Crown on the map, which anyone can grab first. While everyone shares the Crown’s powers, the one wearing it enjoys the most charge and can execute flashy moves quicker. Although you’re collaborating, it helps to excel at teamwork, right? At times, the mighty Crown might get snatched or misplaced, sparking a friendly rivalry. If an enemy like a Tuskar or Outlaw seizes the Crown, it’s your mission to reclaim it. The one who retrieves it gets an extra boost. Remember, Overthrown doesn’t support PvP, so don’t even think about getting competitive in that way!
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Next up, the more workstations your city hosts, the greater the number of citizens that’ll begin appearing in your settlement. Playing with friends allows each member to handle different areas and districts, expediting citizen growth. Not everyone shares the same passion for different tasks, and that’s fine! Perhaps you thrive in building while a friend relishes combat—dividing tasks is a breeze!
Experiment
Finally, I encourage you to explore and experiment. Overthrown was conceived and developed to fuel player curiosity. As you play, let questions arise such as “Can I do this?” and “What happens if I do that?” The answers are typically, “Yes, indeed!” and, “Please, give it a shot!” We’ve crafted the gameplay with interactivity at its core, aiming to deliver moments of surprise and delightful silliness. That’s what makes exploring with friends truly enjoyable!
We’re hopeful that Overthrown piques your interest and that you’ll be eager to give it a go, whether solo or with friends. In its Game Preview phase, we’re keen to incorporate community feedback and would love for you to be part of this journey. Dive into the adventure starting December 5 when Overthrown becomes available on Xbox Game Preview and Game Pass for Xbox consoles and PC.
Note: The original post mentioned that Overthrown’s release date was December 10, which has been updated to reflect the correct launch date of December 5.
