Sony’s recent collaboration with Bandai Namco Entertainment has sparked excitement among fans, particularly those eager to see the revival of some cherished PlayStation franchises that have been gathering dust. In an interesting twist revealed during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, Sony has partnered with Bandai Namco to breathe new life into a couple of first-party franchises, expanding their reach across multiple platforms.
Sony is sitting on a gold mine of underutilized PlayStation IPs. Though the formal details of the deal with Bandai Namco remain under wraps, we do know it includes titles like Patapon 1+2 Replay, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, and the already released Freedom Wars Remastered. There’s no official word on whether more games will join the list, but fans are hopeful this is just the beginning.
Fans have been vocal about their desires. One enthusiastic ResetEra user pleaded, “Namco, please get Tokyo Jungle from Sony and bring it to current platforms.” Another chimed in, “I’m praying Soul Sacrifice gets a new lease on life beyond the Vita.” And there were calls for classics like Puppeteer and The Last Guy to make a return as well.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a discussion about revivals without someone mentioning Bloodborne.
It’s hard to blame gamers for wishing third-party companies would step up to save these well-loved series. Sony’s vault of classic IPs is preferred by many over modern remakes and remasters such as Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn.
