John Gonzalez, well-known for his role as the lead writer of Fallout: New Vegas, has made his way back to Obsidian. The experienced developer shared this news on LinkedIn, clarifying that his return to the studio doesn’t involve working on Fallout: New Vegas 2. Gonzalez first joined Obsidian back in 2008 and was there until 2011, after kicking off his career with more than two years at Ubisoft in Shanghai.
After his initial stint at Obsidian, Gonzalez transitioned to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. There, he spent two and a half years as the lead narrative designer for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. This was followed by a move to the Netherlands, where he made a significant impact at Guerrilla Games as the narrative director for Horizon: Zero Dawn. Subsequent to his role in Amsterdam, Gonzalez spent nearly three years in Barcelona at Smilegate, enhancing his already impressive portfolio.
Outside of his contributions to game development, Gonzalez is also venturing into the literary world. He’s planning to release a novel titled God Mode: Single Player, set to hit shelves later in 2025.
