In a recent announcement, Seattle’s Jar of Sparks revealed to its team that it’s hitting pause on the development of its first major game as it searches for a new publishing partner.
Jerry Hook, the studio’s founder, shared this update on LinkedIn, expressing pride in the progress made so far. Jar of Sparks was established in July 2024 with initial support from NetEase, a major Chinese entertainment company, but it seems they’ve stepped back from publishing the studio’s premiere game.
Hook praised the team’s dedication, saying, “Our journey has been marked by passionate creativity and innovative risks. We aimed to create something fresh and thrilling for the gaming world.” He added, “The foundation we’ve built fills us with pride. As we gear up for what’s next, our talented team members are exploring new paths. If you’re looking for top-notch, forward-thinking professionals, don’t hesitate to connect with us. I’d be delighted to introduce you to some of the finest developers I’ve had the honor of working with.”
This development mirrors a similar situation from November, when another NetEase-supported studio, Worlds Untold, also put its inaugural project on hold.
