COLD VR, which can be seen as a spiritual successor to the long-standing favorite, SUPERHOT VR from 2016, is making its way to Quest and PC VR headsets next month. Don’t worry, PSVR 2 enthusiasts, it’s headed your way soon after.
SUPERHOT VR has aged like fine wine; it’s a classic that continues to capture hearts. It’s surprising that more game studios haven’t attempted to integrate its distinct time-freezing mechanic. COLD VR takes a stab at this concept with a fresh twist—here, slowing down won’t give you an upper hand. Instead, when you ease up, the pace quickens along with the intensity of the enemy AI. Think too long about your next move, and you’ll find yourself in a tricky situation.
In an exciting new trailer, developer ALLWARE has announced its collaboration with publisher Perp Games to bring COLD VR to Quest and PC VR come January 21st, 2025. As for PlayStation VR2, fans will have to wait a bit longer, but rest assured, it is on the horizon.
The game promises not only more formidable enemies but also environmental challenges like lethal lasers and dynamic platforms, not to mention some unexpected twists for the brave explorers, according to ALLWARE.
Reflecting on this journey, Carlos Alfonso from ALLWARE expressed his excitement: “Developing COLD VR has been an incredible journey. With the amazing support from Perp Games, I’m thrilled to introduce players to a truly unique experience where time itself becomes a gameplay mechanic. Their help has been invaluable in bringing the game to more people than I ever imagined. Thanks to Perp, COLD VR will be available on PSVR2 and Quest, making this dream a reality for a wider audience. I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead!”
Eager to dive in? COLD VR is up for pre-order on all platforms, with a launch price of $19.99, £14.99, or €19.99. You can find it on the Horizon Store for Quest 2/3/Pro, on Steam for PC VR headsets, and on the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
