You’re not imagining things—the PlayStation Network (PSN) is definitely down right now. Unfortunately, if you were hoping to jump into some online gameplay on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you’ll have to put those plans on hold for the moment.
At the time of this update, the only word we have is from the Ask PlayStation Japan Twitter account. They’ve issued a statement, which I’ve translated using Twitter’s built-in translation tool.
Here’s what they’re saying: “Currently, the PlayStation ™ Network (including PlayStation ® Store) may not be accessible. We deeply regret any inconvenience this has caused our customers. We’re actively investigating the situation and working to restore service, so your patience is appreciated.”
This indicates that Sony is aware of the issue, but there’s no timeline for when the network will be back up and running. In the meantime, all we can do is wait it out. It’s lousy timing, especially with the Monster Hunter Wilds Open beta happening right now. PlayStation users can only sit back and watch while Xbox and PC players dive in and enjoy the experience. And it’s not just about Wilds—even if that’s not your thing, the weekend is prime gaming time, particularly for those juggling work during the week.
