Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have officially announced the release of Elden Ring Nightreign, slated to make its debut on Friday, May 30. This game stirred quite the excitement last year when it was surprisingly revealed at the Game Awards. As the second installment in the Elden Ring series, it’s poised to take the franchise in an exciting and adventurous new direction, courtesy of the renowned FromSoftware team.
Unlike its predecessor, which unfolded in a vast open world reminiscent of classic FromSoftware creations, Nightreign infuses the concept with fresh creativity. This time around, we’re seeing a melding of roguelike dynamics with class-based strategies, topped off with a splash of battle royale excitement—featuring a map that continuously shrinks. Players will have the option to tackle this procedurally-generated world either solo or with two friends in a co-op setting. Their mission? To navigate through a journey spanning three in-game days and ultimately conquer a formidable boss awaiting at the end.
Elden Ring Nightreign isn’t shying away from innovation, and it’s intriguing to consider how fans might respond. Given the immense popularity of the original Elden Ring, which ranks among the best-reviewed games in history, there’s understandable curiosity and eagerness to see how Nightreign measures up. Fortunately, eager fans won’t have to wait too long, as they now know the precise launch date: May 30, when it will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Before the official release, some fortunate fans will have the opportunity to dive into Nightreign early, thanks to the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test. Those who snag an invite can participate in this pre-release event, which consists of five separate sessions. The first session kicks off on February 14, starting bright and early at 3 am PT until 6 am PT, with the subsequent session happening the same day from 7 pm to 10 pm PT. The excitement continues on February 15 with a session from 11 am to 2 pm PT. Following that, two more sessions are scheduled for February 16, with morning and evening time slots matching the previous days.
These Network Tests promise a tantalizing sneak peek into the various classes Nightreign has to offer, providing a taste of what’s to come in the final version. However, fans will need to wait until May 30 to fully explore all that the game encompasses.
