Exciting news for fans of visual novels: Ever17: The Out of Infinity and Never 7: The End of Infinity are set to hit Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2025, in Japan. What’s even better? The games will come in a Double Pack and support multiple languages, including English, despite only a Japanese release being confirmed so far.
These classic titles are part of the Infinity series, beloved by many since Ever17’s original release in 2002 and Never 7’s debut in 2000. Both stories were penned by Kotaro Uchikoshi, the talented writer behind the acclaimed Zero Escape and AI: The Somnium Files series.
Switch users can expect full HD versions of these games. While Ever17 previously underwent a 3D makeover for the Xbox 360, this latest edition returns to 2D but includes exciting features like additional costumes from the remake. Plus, fans can look forward to a brand-new 2D opening movie, along with enhanced elements introduced in the remake’s storyline.
Here’s a brief look at what each game offers:
Ever17:
It’s spring, 2017, when we meet Takeru Kuranari, just your average college student looking to enjoy the underwater theme park, "Remiyu." However, fun quickly turns into peril when an unforeseen accident traps him beneath the waves. With only the system operator, Sora, to guide them, he learns they have precisely 170 hours and 17 minutes before the park succumbs to the mounting water pressure. Amidst this ticking clock, Takeru, alongside a mysterious girl named Tsugumi and their guide Yu, must unravel the park’s secrets in hopes of finding a way back to the surface. This underwater world of dreams and mystery holds its secrets close—ones you’ll have to discover for yourself.
Never 7:
Picture this: It’s April 1, 2019, and you wake up from a gut-wrenching dream where a girl dies tragically right before you. This unnerving start greets the protagonist, Makoto Ishihara, who’s arrived at a secluded island for a seminar training camp. What’s supposed to end quietly in mundane joy turns ominous as April 6th approaches. An ordinary day spirals into disaster as unease morphs into despair. With the outcome on a loop, the seventh morning never seems to rise—unless you can rely on whatever memories remain to solve the puzzle. This gripping sci-fi suspense romance draws you into a web of emotions as you strive to escape the entangled timeline and bring closure to lingering sorrow.
