Sanzaru Games, the creative minds behind the Asgard’s Wrath series, has just wrapped up its final content update for the Quest-exclusive Asgard’s Wrath 2 (2023). The team is now excitedly turning its attention to their “next big thing.”
According to MIXED, Sanzaru delivered its last major update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, which is a thrilling action-adventure follow-up to their original hit, Asgard’s Wrath (2019) for the Rift. The game recently hosted ‘The Long Winter’, its twelfth and concluding ‘Cosmic Event’. This installment offers fans another round of timed challenges, rewarding them with points and unique cosmetics.
Released at the tail end of 2023 for Quest 2 and newer devices, Asgard’s Wrath 2 provides players with over 60 hours of immersive campaign gameplay, not including the optional Cosmic Events that pop up monthly.
“This marks our final major update for Asgard’s Wrath 2,” mentioned the Community Manager on Sanzaru’s Discord server. “Future updates will be few and far between, focusing primarily on important issues and bug fixes. As for new content, we wanted to be transparent–there are no plans to develop anything further. We’ve heard the community, and we’re making this clear in our update.”
The team also hinted at future plans, stating they are “switching focus and working on some AWESOME things. When we’re ready, we can’t wait to unveil our next big venture to all of you.”
The path forward for Sanzaru remains a bit of a mystery. Since being acquired by Meta (then Facebook) in 2020, they’ve been primarily developing exclusive titles for the company’s XR headsets. With two outstanding and highly polished RPGs under their belt, the team’s expertise in this area suggests we might see more of their RPG magic in the future.
