After experiencing a couple of delays, some players have gotten their hands on Assassin’s Creed Shadows almost a month ahead of schedule. In response, Ubisoft has reached out to the community, asking those who’ve unlocked achievements early to keep the lid on spoilers for the highly-anticipated Xbox open-world game. They emphasized that this early version “does not represent the final quality of the game.”
Just recently, word got out that certain players in the US were already diving into Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft found themselves in an awkward spot and described the situation as “unfortunate.” They’ve asked these early birds to refrain from posting any spoilers. While the game is set to officially launch on March 20, 2025, reports emerged of physical copies being sold on various US auction sites. It turns out some gamers have also started streaming their gameplay on Twitch and sharing images. The reason behind these early releases remains a mystery, but Ubisoft has made a plea to those already playing not to spill any beans online.
“We are aware players have accessed Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of its official release,” Ubisoft mentioned in a post on X. “The development team is still working on final patches, and any footage making its way online doesn’t reflect the final quality of the game.”
They continued, “Leaks are unfortunate and can dampen the excitement for players. We’d greatly appreciate it if you avoid spoiling the experience for others. A big thank you to our community for already taking steps to protect everyone from spoilers. Stay discreet, dodge spoilers, and keep an eye on our channel for more surprises soon! March 20 is just around the corner!”
Getting to this point hasn’t been without its bumps. The journey of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been quite a turbulent one, with two major delays along the way. Originally, it was expected to debut on November 15, 2024, before being pushed to February 14, 2025. Ubisoft then decided on a March release, taking community feedback into account.
In another twist, the Claws of Awaji DLC for the game was leaked last month via its Steam page. This expansion promises to let players explore a new region, enjoy over 10 hours of fresh content, and unlock new weaponry, skills, gear, and abilities.
