Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 has just rolled out its second patch, termed Build 117, bringing some nifty updates such as displaying the player level in the multiplayer HUD. With these updates, developer Crackshell aims to smooth out multiplayer connectivity woes and is also looking forward to introducing modding support down the line.
Just a few days after its initial update, Crackshell released another patch for the popular roguelike action RPG, Heroes of Hammerwatch 2. The first patch, Build 115, which landed on January 15, mainly tackled smaller issues, introduced new features, and included tweaks that catered to player feedback. Acknowledging that more significant bugs needed attention, the team aimed to first address simpler ones with this update.
2025 is packed with much-anticipated game releases, and with Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 leading the charge since its launch on January 14, players have plenty to look forward to. Its predecessor came out in March 2018 and received rave reviews. Initially, multiplayer could handle three players, but this sequel ups the ante to four.
The new patch, announced on the game’s Steam page, added several features like the player level in the multiplayer HUD, missing combo descriptions to the library menu, and confirmation prompts when exiting a game. Several bugs were squashed in this patch too, including an issue where clients could snag a host’s trinket and another where the Thunderbird dealt damage unfairly at spawn. Unlocking all characters in the game is relatively straightforward, and a fix now prevents clients from creating characters based on the host’s unlocked classes.
Heroes of Hammerwatch 2, launched to a sea of rave reviews on Steam, joins a fantastic lineup of roguelikes and roguelites in 2024, with entries like Hades 2 and Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok. Looking ahead, the developer hinted in the second patch that while a detailed roadmap isn’t set, they’re focusing on player feedback, addressing multiplayer connectivity, and implementing modding options, starting with translations.
