Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is about to make its virtual reality debut, arriving exclusively for Quest 3 and Quest 3S next week.
Brought to life by Playside Studios in collaboration with Meta, this VR adaptation of Civilization VII launches on Quest on April 10th. Players can dive into both single-player and online multiplayer modes, engaging with other Quest 3 users.
In this version, just like with its PC and console counterparts, you’ll lead your nation through the ages. Choose a leader and navigate your way through history, deciding whether to forge alliances or engage in epic battles with other world powers.
If you’re new to the Civilization series, Civilization VII – VR introduces you to a variety of starting ages, each packed with its own set of challenges and advantages. The journey begins with the Antiquity Age, where you lay your empire’s groundwork, progresses through the Exploration Age as you chart new territories, and culminates in the Modern Age filled with technological and industrial advancements.
What really makes the VR edition unique, beyond the obvious VR capabilities, is the introduction of an immersive ‘War Table.’ This feature gives you a tabletop gaming experience, allowing you to zoom, rotate, and tilt for the perfect strategic overview.
At the table, you’ll encounter rival civilizations, interact with both AI and human contenders, and decide whether to use your diplomatic skills for peace negotiations or prepare your forces for warfare.
The game will also launch with two modes: virtual reality and mixed reality. The latter enables passthrough, letting you remain aware of your actual surroundings while you play.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – VR is already open for preorders on the Horizon Store for both Quest 3 and Quest 3S, featuring a price tag of $60.
