When it comes to gaming on Android devices, most users are familiar with accessing the latest titles through the Play Store. But it seems Xbox is gearing up to shake things up by introducing its own mobile gaming store, and recent developments make this initiative look quite promising.
Xbox’s move into the mobile gaming arena really picked up steam following its merger with Activision last year. Recently, an intriguing web page related to the new Xbox mobile store popped up online. It extended thanks to participants of the Xbox Insiders program and hinted at a public release, suggesting that we’re not far from seeing it go live. Back in May, Sarah Bond, the President of Xbox, had announced that the Xbox Mobile Store would be launching in July 2024. Initially, it will feature popular first-party titles like Candy Crush and Minecraft, though the specific launch day is still under wraps.
In their latest FY24 Q4 earnings report, Microsoft proudly shared that Xbox now boasts 500 million active users each month across various platforms and devices. Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, pointed out the strength of their “content pipeline,” noting that it has never been in better shape. The report also revealed an impressive 61% surge in Xbox content and services revenue, significantly buoyed by a 58-point increase attributed to their acquisition of Activision.
